A character sketch

I’ve always had a bit of a flair for the dramatic.

Not that anyone would have noticed or anything.

My grandma made the dress in the first photo. I was a flower girl in my uncle’s wedding. Grandma can sew; I can’t. I really, really can’t. Grandma also made the apron — excuse me, pinafore — for my costume when I played Alice in Wonderland in the 7th grade.

My mom made the dress. She can sew, too. I — well, you know.

Grandma has a dramatic streak, too, and a fondness for the performing arts. The vixen.

So does my mom. Which is probably why my brother and I used to dress in costume for major holidays — other than Halloween.

We were all about spreading seasonal messages of fellowship, peace, and period headwear. It was kind of silly.

Now that we’re adults, we’re much more serious. Focused.
